AN EXTRA essy kert will be out this week to help pick up the additional waste expected after people’s freezers cut out during the recent power disruption.

Meanwhile after the weather disruption of last week black bags from households in the West Mainland will be collected tomorrow (Tuesday).

Properties in the Eshaness area, and on the side roads in Girlsta, Scalloway and Whiteness, will have household waste collections tomorrow also.

Tomorrow’s north collection of paper, card and cardboard is postponed until Wednesday.

The westside collection of paper is also cancelled tomorrow and will be collected on Thursday.

An extra vehicle will also assist with collections of defrosted foods for disposal this week.

Householders are asked to present bins for collection from 7.30am.

Details of household waste and recycling collections over the festive period can be found on the council’s website. at: www.shetland.gov.uk/recycling-rubbish/christmas-schedule
