Court / Lengthy disqualification for second drink driving offence
A TWENTY five year old man from Lerwick has been banned from driving for three years after admitting a charge of drink driving.
Callen Tyler Laurenson, of 89 St Olaf Street, was found to be three times the legal alcohol limit when stopped by police on the Esplanade in the town on 30 October.
The court heard that this was Laurenson’s second drink driving offence.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank said the minimum period of disqualification for a second drink driving offence was three years.
Laurenson was also fined £840. He can reduce the period of disqualification by a quarter if he successfully completes the drink driver’s rehabilitation course.
