Community / Big thanks as six year old raises almost £2k for cancer charity

The long wavy hair is cut.

THE PARENTS of a six-year-old Lerwick lass have said a “big thank you” after more than £1,600 was raised by Evie getting her beautiful wavy hair cut for charity.

The family initially set out to raise £200 for the Little Princess Trust, but by Monday morning the total on their GoFundMe account had grown to £1,675.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs free of charge to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

Evie’s mother Emma Harding said: “Evie loved every minute of the experience and is talking about doing it again.

“Thank you also to Jennifer Murray for making Evie feel so special and giving her a lovely haircut.”

Between 16 and 19 inches of her wavy hair was cut off on Saturday and will now be sent to the charity.

The family said they would keep the GoFundMe donations page open until this weekend.
