Council / Work underway on removing Black Gaet slip road
ROADWORKS are underway at the Black Gaet junction to remove the slip road on its south side.
The slip road and island will be replaced by a new 15 metre radius kerbline, making it into a more traditional ‘T’ junction.
The action has been taken due to concerns over the slip road’s length which came to light during analysis into the junction, which has been described by some as an accident “blackspot”.
Traffic volumes there have gone up roughly two per cent year on year for a while, and this was a key factor behind the decision.
There are currently three sets of traffic lights to control vehicles in all directions. The roadworks are expected to last for ten days.
