Transport / Whalsay ferry service affected by crew sickness

SOME Whalsay ferry sailings tonight (Friday) have been called due to crew sickness and a lack of available cover.

For Symbister to Laxo, the last run will be 7pm, with bookings available. The return journey will see a last run at 7.30pm – bookings are available via phone only.

The following runs are cancelled: Laxo to Symbister 8.30pm, 10pm and 11.10pm, Symbister to Laxo 9.15pm and 10.35pm.

The service on Saturday (2 July) is expected to run to the normal timetable.

Shetland Islands Council apologised for any inconvenience.

It comes after crew sickness affected sailings on Bluemull Sound, restricting the service to a single vessel for a number of days.
