Election / No surprises in North Isles by-election announcement

THE NOTICE of poll for the upcoming North Isles council by-election has been published – with no surprise candidates on the list.

Five candidates will contest the by-election on 4 August.

They were all publicly known prior to this afternoon’s (Friday) notice of poll. They are: Gary Cleaver, Stewart Douglas, Sonia Robertson, Robert Thomson, Marie Williamson.

All five candidates are independents.

The by-election is taking place because only two candidates came forward for the ward’s three seats in May’s local government election.

Polling will take place between 7am and 10pm on Thursday 4 August. The results are expected the following day.
