Sport / Inaugural parasport festival to be held in Lerwick

SHETLAND’s first parasport festival is due to take place next month.

The event will aim to give children and young people between the ages of 10 and 18 with a physical, visual or hearing impairments the opportunity to try a range of sports.

The festival will take place on 26 March at the Clickimin Leisure Complex in partnership between Ability Shetland and Scottish Disability Sport.

There is no cost to attend and events will be delivered by leading Scottish clubs and coaches.

Participants will be able to try sports like athletics, badminton, kayaking, rugby, swimming, boccia and more.

An Orkney parasport festival is also due to take place the day before.

Information including how to register has been shared with schools.
