Transport / Ferries’ dry dock schedule affected by manufacturing delays

MV Geira.

MANUFACTURING delays have resulted in a delay to the scheduled winter dry docking of inter island ferries, Shetland Islands Council says.

The hold-up in receiving parts for the MV Geira means ferry services on Bluemull Sound to Yell, Unst and Fetlar will continue to operate a Saturday timetable until Monday 15 February.

On the Whalsay route, the MV Linga is due to go into dry dock on Saturday 5 February and would normally be covered by the MV Hendra.

Due to the delay the MV Hendra will not complete her dry dock until 15 February, and as a result from 5-14 February the MV Linga runs will be covered by MV Fivla and the MV Geira will cover the MV Hendra’s runs.

The local authority said it wanted to apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused.
