News / Police area commander post vacant again

POLICE Scotland says it is continuing to search for a permanent Shetland area commander after Paul Daley, who took up the post in May this year, returned to working elsewhere within the force.

Speaking at a meeting of the community safety and resilience board on Thursday afternoon, Highlands and Islands divisional commander Conrad Trickett said the post was being advertised across the organisation.

Daley had taken the post up on a secondment after previous area commander Lindsay Tulloch was seconded to another role and has “now left to return to other parts of Police Scotland”, Trickett said.

“I did try to persuade him to stay but unfortunately he has decided to move on,” he said, “so that post is advertised across Police Scotland and we’ll obviously be looking for a new incumbent as soon as possible so you’ve got that level of representation in the islands.”

He said Tulloch, who currently divides his time between Shetland and Inverness, was available to support officers locally when required, while inspector Sam Greshon – the deputy area commander – was “very capable” and was “filling the shoes left at the moment by doing the area commander’s job as well”.
