Letters / Microplastic concern
Ex-director of Viking Energy, Alastair Cooper, is quite wrong when he suggests that lochs such as Eela Water in Northmavine will be free of contamination from microplastics because they are outside the Viking Energy wind farm area.
Studies have shown that microplastics can be carried in the atmosphere for distances ranging from at source to several hundred miles.
Given the height and sweep of the massive Viking Energy turbines, microplastics shed from the blades could reach anywhere in Shetland.
