Letters / Divide and conquer
Orion is another bold and ambitious project proposed for Shetland.
It’s concerning that once again we may be at the mercy of a well-known business strategy known as divide and conquer.
This strategy relies on division and quarrelling amongst the people affected so they cannot unite against the conqueror who in this case promises jobs and riches at the cost of cultural and community destruction and environmental grief. Islanders have proven to be vulnerable to these obvious and unfair tactics.
Einstein said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
Hopefully Shetlanders will not allow a similar series of events to happen.
As it’s now clear that conflict of opinions plays into the hands of the developer, the future of our islands solemnly now depends on us all gathering truthful facts and proceeding with caution as developments move on.
