Arts / New Shetland series to premiere later this month
SERIES six of crime drama Shetland will premiere on BBC One later this month.
The first episode will be shown at 9pm on Wednesday 20 October. The news was announced by actor Douglas Henshall on Twitter.
A number of scenes were shot for series six in Shetland earlier this year, and filming for the follow-up seventh series is ongoing.
The sixth series will feature six episodes and it once again sees Henshall reprising his role as detective Jimmy Perez, alongside familiar cast members Alison O’Donnell, Steven Robertson, Mark Bonnar, Erin Armstrong, Anne Kidd and Lewis Howden.
Publicity for the new series says that it will centre on the doorstep murder of a prominent local figure in a “case which strikes at the heart of the Shetland Isles and its people”.
Meanwhile actor Henshall unveiled a plaque in Lerwick on Tuesday in honour of the series and its role in boosting tourism to Shetland.
