Letters / What happened to the previous scheme to build student accommodation?
I see that the lack of student accommodation is proving problematic for Shetland UHI. The college has even gone to the extent of encouraging the SIC (according to an article on this site) “to include possible student residences within its plans to redevelop the Knab site in Lerwick”.
Can’t see that sorting this immediate problem.
I seem to recall not so long ago, that with a lot of fanfare and a great deal of gnashing of teeth, HNP were thrown out of their premises on Commercial Road. To what purpose I wonder?
Surprise, surprise, would you believe it – to build student accommodation for the further education college!
I wonder whatever happened to that dubious scheme, as the site remains unused and unloved.
