Community / People invited to take part in racial equality art project
LOCAL people and groups are being invited to become involved in creating artwork which celebrates diversity and promote racial equality.
The work, coordinated by local anti-discrimination group Shetland Staands, would form part of a nationwide Black Lives Matter mural trail in Scotland.
It is due to take place in October, which is Black History month.
Shetland Staands said artistic ability or experience is not essential as this project is open to the whole community.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact the Shetland Staands Facebook page, or email joywduncan@hotmail.com or gherculeson@gmail.com. More information on the mural trail can be found here.
It comes after the well-attended Shetland Staands wi Black Lives Matter protest walk, which took place in June as hundreds of people came to together in the isles following the death of George Floyd in the US.
A second, separate anti-racism walk was held in the same month around the Clickimin Loch.
