Community / Five marathons in five days proves no problem for MND fundraiser
RUNNING five marathons in five days has proved to be no bother for a fundraiser from Sandwick.
Michael Medici completed the feat in aid of MND Scotland this afternoon (Friday) as he finished a Mavis Grind to North Roe run.
So far he has raised more than £16,500 for the charity, with donations still welcome.
It is a cause very close to his heart, with both of Medici’s parents diagnosed with the rare degenerative condition despite it only affecting around two in 100,000.
The first marathon took place on Monday, from Sumburgh to Lerwick, and each day this week he has run a different route.
Medici said he was overwhelmed by how much money has been raised and the level of support from the community.
“The week has gone very fast, but everything has gone very smoothly. There was a lot to plan and organise each day,” he said.
“I’ll be looking forward to sitting down the next few days and having a few drams.”
