Police / Police charge man after reports of ‘offensive and racist remark’ being made in Lerwick
POLICE say an 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with reports of an offensive and racist remark being made towards a member of the public in Lerwick.
The incident is said to have occurred on the Esplanade on Thursday (24 June).
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
Meanwhile the police said they also fined a 17-year-old male at the weekend for using a handheld mobile phone whilst in control of a vehicle.
He was given a fixed penalty notice which consisted of a £200 fine and six points.
