Coronavirus / Number of latest Covid cases rises to seven
It appears as though the number of recently confirmed cases in Shetland has risen to seven, two more than confirmed by NHS Shetland on Saturday.
According to statistics published by Public Health Scotland on a daily basis, there were two cases confirmed on 17 June and five more on 18 June.
NHS Shetland said these further cases were not entirely unexpected. A spokeswoman reiterated the public health warning of recent days by urging people to remain vigilant
“Specifically if anyone is experiencing any symptoms like a new cough, fever or loss of taste and smell then they must stay at home and book a PCR (laboratory) test. They, and anyone they live with must stay at home until they get the test result,” she said
There were a total of 1,205 positive cases across Scotland, a test positivity rate of 5.8 per cent.
Meanwhile, almost 70 per cent of islanders have had their second dose of a Covid vaccine, while 92 per cent have had their first jab.
