Community / Casting call for local people to appear in ‘lead speaking roles’ in crime drama series
FEMALES in Shetland aged between 16 and 20 who have keen interest in drama are being encouraged to apply for “lead speaking roles” in an upcoming series of crime drama Shetland.
The casting company behind the call says people must be based in Shetland and have a “native Scottish accent”.
They must be over 16 but “look young for your age” – and applicants must be available between 30 August and 17 December.
The roles would be paid.
Details on how to apply can be found on Twitter here.
The popular crime drama has often received criticism for not recruiting more local people to speaking roles.
When asked about this by Shetland News this week, producer Louise Say said she hoped it was “something we can consider in season seven”.
However, she praised the role local extras play, adding that they are “really an integral part of the scene”.
Filming for series six in Shetland is wrapping up this week, and the team are due back later this year to work on the next series.
