Energy / Ninian Northern platform takes a tumble as decommissioning continues

THERE was a slightly different sight at Dales Voe in Lerwick on Saturday after the Ninian Northern platform had its legs blown off as decommissioning continues.

The 14,200-tonne structure arrived at Dales Voe last year to be dismantled.

It is the largest offshore structure to be decommissioned at the deep-water Shetland port.

A consortium of logistics firm Peterson and Veolia are undertaking the decommissioning.
