Transport / Oil spill on South Mainland road
DRIVERS have been warned about an oil spill on the A970 in the South Mainland which is said to be slippy.
Shetland Islands Council’s roads service said it was made aware this morning (Tuesday) of vehicle oil spilled on the A970 from Clumlie to the South Sandwick junction – a distance of around five miles.
Council staff have placed warning signs on the road and sand has been spread on the bends.
There were also reports of oil being present on other roads, including in Sandwick and Lerwick.
