Coronavirus / Latest Covid case part of North Mainland cluster
A FURTHER case of Covid-19 has been confirmed in Shetland, again linked to the North Mainland cluster which first emerged ten days ago when a member of staff at the Mossbank primary school tested positive.
The latest confirmed case brings the number of people affected by this cluster to 14.
A spokesperson for NHS Shetland said the affected person was already self-isolating as part of the test and protect procedure.
She described the outbreak as “contained” and said there was no risk of this spreading to the community as everybody identified with Covid-19 was already self-isolating.
The latest case brings the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Shetland to 230.
Across Scotland there were a total of 701 new cases over the last 24 hours. Although the number of people in hospital and in intensive care continues the fall, the Scottish Government also confirmed 10 new deaths of people who had tested positive.
