Transport / Helicopter returns to Sumburgh after suspected lightning strike
A HELICOPTER serving the oil industry returned to Sumburgh Airport this morning (Tuesday) after the crew reported a suspected lightning strike.
A spokesperson for operator Babcock said the S-92, which had 12 passengers and two crew on board, was en route to an oil installation and landed back in Sumburgh safely at around 10.15am.
“It will now be subject to a detailed investigation by the engineering teams,” they said.
The Lerwick lifeboat was launched but it turned back north of Mousa.
