Emergency services / Coastguard attends to washed-up life raft
PEOPLE are being asked to contact the coastguard if they come across parts of a life raft which came loose from a vessel a few days ago near Sumburgh.
The coastguard was called out on Wednesday morning after the life raft washed up at the Geo of Newlands at Scatness.
The team safely dealt with two marine pyrotechnics that were onboard.
The life raft is thought to be the same one that has been reported to have washed overboard a local vessel a few days ago near Horse Island in Sumburgh.
The coastguard, however, said that the white outer casings of the life raft have not yet been located, so they may still wash up.
People are asked to get in touch with the coastguard operations centre in Lerwick if they come across any of the white casing.
