Transport / Bressay ferry service suspended after fault
THE BRESSAY ferry service is currently suspended due to a technical fault.
A spokesperson for Shetland Islands Council said that due to the current weather conditions it is not possible to deploy a replacement vessel for the Leirna to cover the service.
At 1pm the council said the vessel was still out of service and not expected to return to service today.
Current weather conditions mean that it is not possible to provide another vessel to provide cover on this route.
“Engineers are still working on repairs and the service remains suspended,” a spokesperson added.
“The Lerwick Port Authority pilot boat, Knab, will provide a foot passenger service between Lerwick and Bressay from 4pm to 5pm this afternoon.
“This will be free shuttle service for foot passengers only. Council staff will assist with the mooring of vessel and with passenger transfers.”
