Coronavirus / Indoor care home visits suspended
INDOOR visiting across all of Shetland’s care centres has been suspended following a sharp rise in confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the isles.
The decision to suspend indoor visits has been taken to give the most vulnerable people in the community the highest degree of protection possible.
NHS Shetland confirmed yesterday (Sunday) that 16 new cases had been registered since 21 December.
Care home residents’ families have been contacted to make them aware of the latest position, and they will be kept up to date as the situation progresses.
The community is being reminded once again to do what they can to make sure they keep themselves and others safe.
As Shetland is currently under level three restrictions folk cannot socialise in other people’s homes.
Shetland Islands Council said that even relatively small gatherings can have a significant influence on spreading the virus and for that reason they are not permitted.
More information on level three can be found here.
