Coronavirus / Eight hospital staff self-isolating, health board confirms
FOLLOWING the confirmation of two cases of Covid-19 at Lerwick’s Gilbert Bain Hospital, NHS Shetland has now confirmed that eight members of staff are currently self-isolating.
So far a total of 30 staff have been tested for the virus as part of precautionary measures put in place in response to the first case confirmed on Saturday.
On Monday, a second case was identified as the result of these precautionary measures.
NHS Shetland has so far not been able to identify the source of the two Covid cases in the Gilbert Bain in Lerwick.
The health board confirmed earlier this week that agency staff were being drafted in and that services could be affected in the future.
On Wednesday, a further confirmed case was added to the local tally, but this latest positive test is not related to the situation at the hospital. The person is also currently on the mainland.
