Court / Man admits careless driving which resulted in collision with motorcyclist
A TWENTY year old man has been fined £450 and handed five penalty points for driving without due care and attention in Brae last summer.
John Mackay, of Burnside, Lerwick, admitted to the charge when he appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday.
He failed to leave a safe distance between his van and a motorbike travelling ahead of him and did not notice the rider braking to turn off at the Roebrek junction.
The ensuing collision resulted in the motorcyclist being thrown from his bike, sustaining significant bruising and requiring psychological counselling.
