Community / Anita’s marathon raises thousands of pounds
SOCIAL care worker Anita Georgeson is well on her way this morning (Saturday) to completing a marathon from Sumburgh to the Edward Thomason & Taing care home in Lerwick, in her bid to raise funds for a Tovertafel projector.
The fundraising adventurer, who once climbed Kilimanjaro to raise money for Mind Your Head, has already raised £15,000, including £2,000 from selling almost 100 painted pebbles.
The photo shows Anita running at Levenwick this morning. She hopes to be arriving at the Edward Thomason & Taing House for 1pm.
A Tovertafel is a projector system that co-ordinates its images with the hand and arm movements of players and is intended to encourage physical and cognitive activity to stimulate people living with dementia. The high-tech device will cost around £10,000.
