THOSE with an appetite to learn more about the process of local democracy can now watch and listen to council debates online.
Shetland Islands Council (SIC) has just published a recording of Monday afternoon’s session of the full council, held socially distanced in the Lerwick Town Hall with a number of councillors and officials joining virtually.
On the agenda this afternoon was a report on a new grant scheme to distribute funding received from the Crown Estate as well as the appointment of new members the planning committee and integration joint board.
Earlier this month the SIC announced that it would start publishing recordings of meetings of the full council as well as its main committees after realising that thanks to Microsoft Teams, which has been used during lockdown, the technology was readily available.
