Community / Library to reopen
THE SHETLAND Library is set to reopen to the public today (Monday).
The Lerwick library’s initial opening hours will be 1.30pm to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
Customers must wear face coverings, keep a two metre distance from others, and sanitise hands on entry.
Names, phone numbers and arrival and departure times will be noted as part of the government’s Test and Protect scheme.
Some library equipment and furniture has been removed or relocated, to improve space and aid social distancing, and an extra service desk has been added to reduce queuing.
All public access computers are now in the learning centres, which reopened last week.
All returned books will be put in the external returns point or boxes within the library, then quarantined for 72 hours.
Some services such as newspapers and coffee machines will not be available, though in due course the library hopes to restore all services where it is safe to do so.
