Court / Man admits growing cannabis for medical reasons
BAIL has been continued for a man who admitted producing cannabis plants in Burra.
Lerwick Sheriff Court heard yesterday (Wednesday) Justin Smith, 48, of Bridge End was detected after admitting a policeman to his house on an entirely separate matter.
Smith pleaded guilty to growing nine plants and having 300 grammes of cannabis, which the court heard was worth £4,500.
Smith gave a full admission to the police and said that he had been growing the drug between 1 January 2019 and 2 October 2019 for medical purposes.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank adjourned the case for provision of a social work report and continued Smith’s bail till 23 April.
