Court / Two men appear in court

TWO men have been released on bail after appearing from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday on separate charges.

Ellis Birnie, of Sandveien in Lerwick, was accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on 31 January at an address in the town by brandishing a knife at a woman and threatening to stab another man.

The 25-year-old was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon – a knife on a multi-tool – in a public place.

His case was continued without plea until 12 February, with Birnie released on bail with special conditions.

Piotr Bobisz, of St Sunniva Street, Lerwick, also appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday.

He was charged with assaulting a woman to her injury on two occasions, on 26 January 2018 and 2 February 2020.

The 47-year-old was also accused of assaulting a man on 26 January 2018.

His case was continued without plea until 12 February, with Bobisz bailed with special conditions.
