Court / Remanded in custody over Christmas
A MAN from Lerwick will spend the festive season in prison after being remanded in custody following a court appearance on Christmas Eve.
Ryan Paterson, whose address was listed in court papers as no fixed abode, appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on a number of matters.
The 30-year-old admitted a breach of a community payback order previously given out as a sentence for offences committed in Peterhead in July.
Paterson pleaded not guilty to all the other matters, which included allegations of assault, possessing an offensive weapon and failing to appear in court.
He is also accused of possessing heroin at Lerwick Sheriff Court on 17 July.
Honorary sheriff Willie Shannon continued consideration of the community payback order breach until 15 January.
Paterson was also given an intermediate diet of 15 January and a trial diet of 23 January for all of the other matters, with his application for bail refused.
