Court / Released on bail after court appearance on assault charge
A MAN has been released on bail after appearing from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court accused of assault.
George Sutherland, of Ireland, Bigton, had his case continued without plea until 10 January.
The 61-year-old was accused of assaulting a woman at his home address on Monday (16 December) and repeatedly seizing her by the neck, pushing her on the body, pushing his fist against her head and seizing her by the body.
Sutherland was also accused of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the same location on the same date.
He was charged with shouting, swearing, uttering threats of violence, acting in an aggressive manner and placing the woman in a state of fear or alarm.
Sutherland was released on bail with a special condition prohibiting him from approaching or contacting the complainer.
