Election letters 2019 / Make your voice heard despite voting fatigue
I know that most of us are pretty fed up with voting, especially in Shetland. This will be the seventh major campaign in five years that we have had to engage with.
Despite this fatigue I would urge everyone, whatever political persuasion you may have, to please make your voice heard at this crossroads in our country’s history.
The General Election is to be held on 12 December 2019. If you have not already done so, please register to vote. You can do this easily online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote by 11.59pm on 26 November.
If you are going to be away don’t be disappointed. You can organise a postal vote from the same link, up to 5pm on the 26th of November.
You can also register for a proxy vote. To do this you need to download the form, again from the same link, and have a paper copy with the Orkney and Shetland Valuation Joint Board, 20 Commercial Road, Lerwick by 5pm on 4 December.
I am afraid you must be over 18 to vote in the Westminster Elections. Maybe that is something we can change!
