Council / Reduced service on Yell Sound

Ferry services on Yell Sound will be operated by the Daggri on Monday morning.

FERRY services on Yell Sound will be reduced to a single vessel service on Monday morning (28 October) with the Dagalien taken out of service for essential planned repairs on her propulsion system.

The timetable on Yell Sound will operate to the shift vessel timetable and all prior bookings are suspended until the Fivla can be relieved from the Bressay Sound service and becomes available as the second vessel on Yell Sound.

Meanwhile engine repairs on the Bressay ferry Leirna continued over the weekend and possibly into next week with the knock on effect that the Fivla would therefore remain on the Bressay route for the time being.

The ferry is therefore unable to provide cover on the Yell Sound route as originally intended. Shetland Islands Council said it would like to apologise to passengers for the disruption.
