Court / Man appears from custody on string of charges
A MAN appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Friday on a number of charges including assault and stealing money.
Andrew Lewing, of Lerwick’s Ladies Drive, was released on bail after having his case continued without plea until later this month.
The 31-year-old was accused of assaulting a woman at an address in Lerwick on 21 July last year, as well as on 6 July this year.
Lewing also faced a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on 21 July last year.
The 31-year-old was also charged with stealing money from the same address on four separate occasions between 1 April 2018 and August this year.
He faced another charge of using someone else’s debit card to fraudulently buy £30 of goods at Tesco in Lerwick on 13 December 2018.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank released Lewing on bail but added two special conditions. He will reappear in court on 23 October.
