Features / Reader photos brighten up our garden gallery

Shetland’s blooming marvellous

SHETLAND NEWS READERS have sent in photos of their gardens, flowers and vegetables, proving nothing is impossible with determination! Despite the poor Spring Shetland has had, there are, nonetheless, horticultural jewels to delight us.

Click the images to see a larger version, and to scroll through them. The gallery is now closed for Summer 2019, so please don’t send us any more. You could, however, start planning for next year…

Polycrub

We designed, and are sole suppliers, of the Polycrub, a polytunnel/greenhouse hybrid designed to withstand our Shetland climate. Polycrub has structural accreditation, and our designs are subject to copyright.

We are a trading arm of Northmavine Community Development Company (NCDC), a charity that works alongside local people to regenerate Northmavine. Our profits are reinvested in Northmavine to support community-based projects.

Our ‘Peerie Polly’ range is 3m wide and the original Polycrub range is 4m wide. Each range is available in a variety of lengths. Peerie Polly is also available as a pre-assembled unit.

Polycrubs are perfect for individual growers and schools/community groups have also been able to access grant funding for growing projects. Crofters and farmers with plans for crofting diversification could be eligible for funding support through the agricultural grants system.

Visit our website at www.polycrub.co.uk or contact Maree or Cynthia on 01806 544222 for more information.
