Politics / By-election set for late August
THE BY-ELECTION for the Shetland seat at the Scottish Parliament will be held on 29 August.
The seat will be vacant soon when Tavish Scott steps down to take up a role with Scottish Rugby.
Council leader Steven Coutts told a meeting of Shetland Islands Council’s policy and resources committee on Tuesday afternoon that the date was set for 29 August.
Liberal Democrat Scott has held the seat since the opening of the Scottish Parliament in 1999.
