Court / Fined for drug possession
A MAN from Lerwick has been fined £360 after he admitted possessing cocaine.
Dan Inkster, of Lyndhurst Place, pleaded guilty at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday to possessing the class A drug at his home address on 30 June last year.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank said the 32-year-old was unable to represented in court because there were no available seats on flights to Shetland for his mainland-based lawyer.
There was also no local agents available to represent Inkster on their behalf.
However, Sheriff Cruickshank was given a letter confirming Inkster’s intention to plead guilty to the cocaine offence.
Pointing to a previous conviction for possessing ecstasy, the sheriff told Inkster: “You have to make sure that you have no intention of being involved in possessing drugs in the future.”
