News / Police name fatal house fire victim

Ross Grant from Lerwick died in the house fire in the early hours of 24 February.

POLICE have released the name of the man who died in a house fire in Lerwick at the end of last month.

Ross Grant, aged 48, from Lerwick, was found deceased inside the two storey property in Burns Lane in the early hours of Sunday 24 February.

Emergency services were called to the house in one of Lerwick’s narrow lanes to find a well-established fire. It took fire crews from Lerwick, Brae, Sandwick and Bixter to get the blaze under control.

Police said that enquiries into the fire were ongoing in conjunction with Scottish Fire and Rescue Services (SFRS). There appear to be no suspicious circumstances.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal as is standard in such cases.
