SHETLAND Islands Council’s planning staff will be out of action on Friday and Monday as they move back to 8 North Ness.

The planning service is moving to the council headquarters from its current location at Train Shetland at Gremista on Saturday.

From the morning of Tuesday, the duty officer arrangements between 9am – 10.30 a.m. will recommence for both buildings standards and planning.

For the time being, access to 8 North Ness will be from the north entrance, with a buzzer and the planning service reception phone number on the door.

The 8 North Ness building in Lerwick was evacuated just over two years ago after concerns were raised over its structural integrity, despite tests later showing they were unfounded.

The £7.3 million headquarters was opened in 2012.
