News / Christmas donation for local foodbank

Accepting the donation on behalf of the Shetland foodbank is David Grieve (third from left). Also on the photo are George Robertson Ltd directors (left to right): Andrew Simpson, Anna Moar and Lewis Moncrieff.

A LOCAL retail business has donated £500 to Shetland foodbank to help those in need.

George Robertson Ltd, trading as GR Direct, usually gives a free turkey to every customer purchasing an appliance or a TV from their Carlton Place shop throughout December.

This year, they decided to do something different and donate to a local cause.

Company director Anna Moar said: “Instead of our usual free turkey give away in December, we thought it would be a nice gesture to donate the money we would have spent on the turkeys to a local cause.

“We hope that the donation will help get them stock up for the busy Christmas period.”
