News / Christmas donation for local foodbank

A LOCAL retail business has donated £500 to Shetland foodbank to help those in need.

George Robertson Ltd, trading as GR Direct, usually gives a free turkey to every customer purchasing an appliance or a TV from their Carlton Place shop throughout December.

This year, they decided to do something different and donate to a local cause.

Company director Anna Moar said: “Instead of our usual free turkey give away in December, we thought it would be a nice gesture to donate the money we would have spent on the turkeys to a local cause.

“We hope that the donation will help get them stock up for the busy Christmas period.”
