A LOCAL web design company is offering a unique and extremely cost-effective web-design service specifically aimed at smaller companies, micro businesses or self-employed sole-traders.
Its target customer base is anyone who might not otherwise be in a position to afford not only their own bespoke website, but equally the time commitment necessary to maintain it effectively once it’s up and running.
JLP Internet – currently based in Gulberwick – have designed a simple to construct and maintain ‘drag and drop’ website building tool entitled IRIS, which they have now made available to their rapidly increasing network of customers.
The system – unique to JLP – can support several ‘pages’ of information (text, images and link) re their client’s business, including such elements as the range of services they offer, the history of the company, contact details and perhaps other general information such as case studies and so forth.
The cost-effective element of the new service is based around a monthly payment system rather than a large, one-off provision payment – something which can often prove to be a financial burden or disincentive to smaller operators. With this in mind, JLP exclusively offer their IRIS sites at £10 plus VAT a month for a self-maintained website, or £20 plus VAT a month for a site wholly maintained by JLP on the client’s behalf – with hands-on maintenance training provided where required too.
Managing director, John Pottinger – who has an Honours Degree in Computing from Abertay University in Dundee – says that having received regular enquiries from small businesses regarding website provision, they set out to create a new package to “take the stress, time commitment, effort and much of the cost out of the process” for such clients.
“Small companies often found that a standard website was financially out of their reach, not to mention the time commitment required to update and maintain the site as well,” he says.
“So, to address this issue, and our client’s requirements, we decided to create our own website builder to effectively compete, not against other local service suppliers, but primarily other often less effective off-the-shelf ‘drag and drop’ website tools such as Squarespace, Wix, GoDaddy and such like.
“IRIS allows our clients to sit down with us, discuss their needs and goals – in short what they want their website to achieve. We then take this information and build a website using IRIS that effectively promotes and develops their business, hopefully providing a return on their original investment.”
IRIS is also very well suited to charities wishing to get online and spread their message, and JLP are proud to offer a 50 per cent discount to eligible charities for both subscription options.
Over and above IRIS, JLP also offer full bespoke website building services, together with other internet-based services such as e-mail hosting, Office 365 package provision, internet marketing, search engine optimisation and custom software development, and are happy to discuss requirements with prospective clients at any time.
Pottinger says they are currently experiencing their busiest year to date, with the company having launched twice as many new websites in the first eight months of 2018 compared to the whole of last year, and now with the launch or IRIS this growth period shows no signs of slowing down.
