Community / Choir to record MRI charity single
A CHARITY single featuring a choir of local voices is set to be recorded this weekend to raise money for the Shetland MRI scanner appeal.
Two songs will be recorded at Mareel on Sunday before the tracks are released for the public to buy.
The ringleader behind the project is Veronica McBurnie, who has previously organised fundraising pop-up choirs.
The doctor says people of all abilities can take part, with participants asked to contribute £20 each towards the project as a registration fee.
Snow Patrol’s Run is set to be recorded, as well as a B-side, while McBurnie is hopeful of seeing 100 people getting involved.
Anyone interested in taking part should contact McBurnie via drv@singinghealth.com or through her Facebook page.
The MRI appeal aims to raise £2 million for a scanner, which would be located in Lerwick – reducing the need for people to travel south for scans.
People without a singing voice can donate to the appeal online.
