MORE social housing could be on the horizon for Sandwick after plans were submitted for 12 units.

Hjaltland Housing Association has acquired a piece of land in the centre of the village for its Houlland housing project.

The housing association wants to build six two-bedroom houses and six three-bedroom units.

It is also looking for planning permission in principle for four private sites for future development.

The site is located between Houlland Road to the south east and the main road to the north west.

The development would also include a courtyard space where children would be encouraged to play.

It forms part of Hjaltland Housing Association’s summary business plan for 2018-23, which also includes an initial 69 units at Staneyhill in Lerwick and 32 houses at Upper Scalloway.
