News / Learn more about new Aberdeen hospital facilities

MEETINGS are being held in Lerwick this week to allow the Shetland public to learn more about two new health facilities due to open in Aberdeen in 2021.

The Baird Family Hospital will provide a new home for maternity and gynaecology services in Aberdeen, as well as breast screening and surgery.

The ANCHOR Centre will provide out-patient and day-patient services for people with cancer and for patients with blood disorders.

It will be named after the “brand” Aberdeen and North Centre for Haematology, Oncology and Radiotherapy.

Both facilities, which are costing a combined £163.7 million, will be located at Foresterhill.

Drop-in meetings will be held at the Bressay room at Montfield in Lerwick between 5-6pm and 6-7pm tonight (1 October) and from 4-5pm on Tuesday.
