News / Westside bakery up for sale
A BAKERY which employs ten people in Shetland’s westside has gone on the market.
Waas Bakery has been put up for sale after the unexpected death of owner Bruce Gilardi earlier this year.
He took over the business in 2016 with an instant rebrand and a fresh focus on producing artisan products.
The bakery at Walls, which is described as “consistently profitable”, has gone on the market at a price of £395,000.
The business started in 1983 and operated from a converted church before moving to its current purposes-built premises in 1993.
Turnover to the end of May 2018 was £460,000.
The bakery is the latest large-scale business opportunity to appear in Shetland in recent weeks, with both the Toll Clock Shopping Centre and the Brae Hotel also on the market.
