A MAN found to have a “veritable cornucopia” of drugs on him at the Gilbert Bain Hospital has been given a community payback order.
Charles Holmes, 36, Gilbertson Road, Lerwick, admitted possessing cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis resin as well as prescription drugs diazepam and tramadol at the hospital on 26 December.
Lerwick Sheriff Court heard on Wednesday the drugs were worth a total of £337.50.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said that Holmes had been in hospital as a witness when his behaviour led police to search him, uncovering the haul.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank said that Holmes had a “veritable cornucopia” of drugs on him – albeit for personal use.
He said that Holmes had made good progress with previous community payback orders and sentenced him to 18 months community payback order with supervision and 120 hours unpaid work.
