OVER thirty yachts have descended upon Lerwick as part of the annual Bergen-Shetland race.

A total of 31 yachts left the Norwegian city on Wednesday and by the close of play on Thursday all had arrived in the isles.

The first to arrive in Lerwick was Rubber Duck, with Morten Offerdal and Espen Børresen receiving the blue ribbon in honour of their achievement.

This year some of the yachts will depart Lerwick for Bergen at 4pm on Saturday, while some will leave at 11am on Sunday.

Four of the yachts will leave Shetland on Sunday to head to Torshavn in Faroe as part of the longer Viking Offshore Race.

Track progress of the yachts here.
